Constantine (2005): Starring Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz; directed by Fancis Lawrence

This movie is rated R for demonic images and violence. It also has some strong language.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I am always surprised at how few people have seen this movie. It surprises me mostly because of who stars in the movie. First there is Keanu Reeves who was made popular with the movie series "The Matrix".
In "Constantine" Keanu plays the main character, John Constantine, a troubled man who has some special gifts. He is what we might call a psychic. He is able to see beyond into what is really there. This movie is filled with demons and angels and those that are in-between. "Constantine" has some very catholic views on religion. The troubled John Constantine finds himself trying to buy his way into heaven by using his powers for good. He ends up in hell and meets the devil and gets into some trouble with some demons.
His faithful sidekick, Chas Kramer (played by Shia LaBeouf known best for his role in the "Transformers" series) is an enthusiastic apprentice with his nose in books, just waiting to be part of the action.
The other main character, who is usually the center of the action, is Angela/Isabel Dodson (a set of twins where Angela plays a bigger part, both played by Rachel Weisz). She plays a love interest for John and is central to the plot once her twin sister, Isabel, kills herself.
This movie has very edgy visuals and ideas about hell and demons, even angels. I love the imagery and symbolism that takes place. They do play around with camera angles and with very artistic shots, as well as the play with lights and lighting (which can be really fun to notice which side has better lighted scenes, the demons or the angels).
This movie is said to have one of the best depictions of the Satan, played by Peter Stormare. I think it is a fantastic depiction of Satan. He is clearly evil, but something about him makes him seem almost in a not so good way charming. I love it.
Keanu's acting as always is unique. In some ways adds to the movies feel and in some ways takes away because of something lacking in his expression of emotions. Although I can't imagine anyone else play John Constantine Keanu's acting still leaves something to be desired.
It would be very hard to predict the outcome of this movie, it is always throwing curve-balls. I think that this movie does a good job of painting a picture that is mostly dark and evil with points of light. This movie has a happy ending mostly. I really enjoy watching this movie over and over and each time I find something different about it. I would suggest buying it. It is truly unique.
  I give it a 4.8 star review.
